Working to develop the Hippodrome Theatre in Todmorden

April 10, 2019
Through the Todmorden Wind farm funding programme TSC has won £5,000 for the Hippodrome Theatre run by TAODS - this will be spent on buying stage light decks - literally light stage decks which can be moved and rearranged easily. This is a great partnership and we look forward to more successes on their behalf.

Great news on Ministry of Justice Rape Fund

April 10, 2019
We've just heard that we have been successful in supporting KRASAC (Kirklees Rape and Sexual Assault Support centre) winning £227,000 over 3 years through tendering for the Rape Fund through the Ministry of Justice - another collaboration between TSC and Rachel Walmsley of Succeed Training.

December 19, 2018
Today is one of those wonderful days when great results come in. Today Rachel Walmsley and I heard that two significant bids we have worked on recently have been successful. The first is securing £165,000 for AVSED, a charity working with older people in the Aireborough part of Leeds. The funding from reaching Communities is for three underpinning aims: 1) To increase the capacity to deliver much needed services through an increase and expansion in the use of volunteers 2) To adapt and develop current activities to engage new and different cohorts of older people 3) To draw on and develop local community resources When the Project manager heard she broke down in tears. The second result is £177,000 from the Henry Smith charity and is for the Kirklees and Calderdale Rape and Sexual Assault Counselling Centre. The funding will pay for 3 years for an Outreach Counsellor and part of the CEO's salary. What a great day!!

Working to build Stanley Grange Community

December 18, 2018
I am delighted to have been asked by Stanley Grange Community Association - working as a Moneytree Fundraising consultant - to help them raise funds to refurbish two of their supported living houses for people with learning disabilities and complex needs. I visited the community in Lancashire and was inspired by all that i saw and all the people I met in this intentional community. I'll keep you posted!

Success for Otley Action for Older People!

November 20, 2018
Today's great news is that our work for Otley Action on the Time to Shine bid for £18,300 has been successful. Feedback from the grant panel was that, with the 3 proposed phases, this project could be quite challenging but are confident OAOP have the ability to address this. They particularly liked the focus on out of hours’ provision and felt there was potential for good sustainability. We are working with Otley Action to develop their services to support people who are still isolated and lonely out there and this project will work to resolve this partly with weekend lunches hosted by younger volunteers and with outings for people who are not accessing these currently.

Working for hospice care

October 25, 2018
I'm very happy to have raised £40,000 for Thames Hospice this year - a cause dear to my heart. This work was a project working as an associate for Moneytree Fundraising. My brief was to focus on the smaller trusts and foundations, writing applications for under £10k at a time.

Serving small organisations with free support

October 24, 2018
It's great to be supporting small organisations and community groups with free fundraising and business development guidance. This project is funded by Big Lottery and managed by WYCAS (West Yorkshire Charities Accounting Service). It means we've been able to work with Midgley community Association, Wadsworth Community Association, SLYNCS (working with young people), the Night Shelter for refugees and others. If accessing up to one days support is of interest please contact John on or 07951 042013

Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society - the new CIO

October 18, 2018
One of the goals of TAODS, who run the amazing Todmorden Hippodrome, has been to convert from an unincorporated charity to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. John has now managed to get them there - going through the whole process - and thanks are due to the Charities Commission staff, who took on board the request to be registered by a date which would fit with their accounting period.
